Base Salary

$180k - $220k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and own enterprise cloud architecture across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and on-premises or hybrid environments.
  • Create solution design documents, network diagrams, data flow maps, and ATO-supporting artifacts aligned to NIST RMF, ICD 503, and FedRAMP.
  • Define and enforce cloud security architecture standards covering zero trust, IAM, encryption, and workload isolation.
  • Lead on-premises workload assessments, migration strategy development, and technical delivery for rehost, replatform, and refactor initiatives.
  • Architect high-availability cloud network topologies with VPC/VNET design, transit gateways, private connectivity, and cross-domain integration.
  • Partner with ISSM and ISSO teams on Cloud Security Plans, SSPs, and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Establish secure, repeatable, and auditable infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep.
  • Evaluate cloud technologies and vendors and present documented build-versus-buy-versus-configure trade studies to CIO and executive stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for cloud architecture on assigned programs and engage government customers, AOs, and prime contractors.
  • Mentor cloud engineers, DevSecOps practitioners, and junior architects while establishing architecture review and cloud governance processes.
  • Travel up to 10% CONUS for program sites, government customer engagements, and architecture reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or solutions architecture, including at least four years designing cloud solutions for DoD, intelligence community, or federal government programs.
  • Experience architecting production workloads on AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government, including multi-account or multi-subscription landing zones, networking, and IAM.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tooling and secure DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-144, CMMC Level 2/3, and DFARS cloud security requirements.
  • Experience supporting NIST RMF authorization activities, including cloud-specific SSP artifacts and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Active Secret clearance is required at hire; TS/SCI eligibility is strongly preferred and some assignments may require an upgrade.
  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions or multi-level security architectures, NSA/CSS cloud security standards, DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide, or IC cloud policy is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, and service mesh architectures in GovCloud environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AWS Security Hub, Microsoft Sentinel, and CrowdStrike Falcon is preferred.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • TOGAF 9/10 or equivalent enterprise architecture certification is preferred.
