Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Build workflow automations, lightweight applications, prototypes, integrations, APIs, and production-quality software components.
- Choose appropriate no-code, low-code, or full-code implementation approaches based on complexity, security, maintainability, and enterprise constraints.
- Develop and troubleshoot scripts, services, prompts, agents, application components, APIs, and integrations.
- Support technical feasibility testing, prototype evaluation, pilot readiness, implementation, production handoff, and knowledge transfer.
- Apply secure coding, version control, automated testing, code review, documentation, configuration management, secrets handling, logging, and observability.
- Evaluate and integrate generative AI and LLM capabilities, including prompt orchestration, retrieval, structured outputs, tool and API calls, evaluation logic, and guardrails.
- Partner with UX, data, architecture, security, platform, QA, business, and other stakeholders to fit solutions to real workflows.
- Package reusable code, prompts, configurations, integration patterns, and technical guidance for broader engineering use.
- Troubleshoot issues across application code, APIs, data transformations, authentication, configuration, networks, services, platforms, and third-party dependencies.
- Improve reliability, latency, cost, maintainability, and user-facing behavior using testing and operational feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least 7 years of experience in application development, automation engineering, systems integration, prototyping, or related software delivery.
- Strong coding ability in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Java, or comparable languages, with hands-on API and integration experience.
- Experience delivering production-quality software or automation through a modern SDLC, including code review, branching, testing, release discipline, documentation, and defect resolution.
- Strong understanding of API design, authentication and authorization, data interchange, integration patterns, secure coding, and cross-boundary troubleshooting.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs among custom development, configuration, scripting, low-code, and managed services.
- Strong debugging, work estimation, requirements decomposition, technical risk communication, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to satisfy VA personnel vetting and applicable security, privacy, records, and data-handling requirements.
- Preferred qualifications include 9+ years of enterprise application, automation, integration, or AI-enabled solution delivery, especially in federal or regulated environments.
- Preferred experience includes generative AI and LLMs, agentic workflows, Azure AI services, Power Platform, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Microsoft 365 integration, containers, observability, production support, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Recommended or preferred certifications include cloud developer, Microsoft Power Platform Developer, Microsoft Azure AI Engineer, software engineering, DevOps, DevSecOps, or comparable credentials.
- A portfolio of reusable libraries, internal tools, open-source contributions, technical prototypes, or documented engineering patterns is beneficial.
