Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from concept through design, delivery, operations, rollout, and customer follow-up
  • Design, build, and operate distributed database ingestion, storage, and query components
  • Shape the product roadmap by joining customer calls and translating pain points into deliverables
  • Own service-level objectives and unit-cost targets, reduce toil through automation, and improve on-call operations
  • Partner with App Observability, Alloy, Tempo, and other database squads across Grafana
  • Support teammates through design discussions, code review, and pairing
  • Participate in the EMEA on-call rotation and contribute to incident response and post-incident learning
  • Contribute to the Pyroscope open-source community, including reviewing external contributions and helping steer the project
  • Develop capabilities including Adaptive Profiles, trace-to-profile correlation, autoscaling, BYOC automation, agent-ready APIs and CLI tooling, and OpenTelemetry-native profiling

Requirements

  • Experience with Go or another systems or programming language such as Rust, C, C++, Python, or Java
  • Production experience building and operating distributed cloud services and multi-tenant data systems
  • Understanding of performance, reliability, and cost trade-offs in production systems
  • Comfort speaking with customers, working through ambiguity, and translating problems into deliverables
  • Strong software craftsmanship and ability to write clean, robust, performant, maintainable software
  • Operational experience including carrying a pager, SRE-style work, or infrastructure as code
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment through writing, reviews, and shipped code
  • Bonus: experience with profiling and performance tools such as flamegraphs, pprof, or perf
  • Bonus: experience with OpenTelemetry or large-scale observability systems
  • Bonus: experience operating multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure at scale on Kubernetes
  • Bonus: experience building structured APIs, metadata and discovery endpoints, or deterministic outputs for AI/LLM consumers
  • Bonus: open-source contribution or maintainership experience
  • Bonus: prior use of Grafana, Prometheus, Pyroscope, or similar systems in production or a homelab
  • Bonus: experience working on fully remote, globally distributed teams
