Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the architecture for test sequence authoring, PLC configuration deployment, real-time data acquisition, and operator interfaces.
- Write production-grade code across the full stack while owning the technical roadmap and major architectural decisions.
- Translate test and operational requirements into feature specifications and deliver capabilities incrementally.
- Build high-throughput pipelines for real-time ingestion, processing, and visualization of high-rate sensor data.
- Design the lifecycle of operational sequences and configurable safety parameters.
- Define data-acquisition standards, device configuration management, and calibration traceability.
- Architect for high reliability, observability, deterministic behavior, fail-safe operation, and operational robustness in safety-critical environments.
- Collaborate with Test Bench Engineering, Propulsion, and Systems Engineering on campaign requirements.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of five, including setting engineering standards and guiding code and design reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with architectural ownership and technical leadership.
- Strong backend expertise in Python, C#, or similar technologies, including real-time or near-real-time data-processing pipelines.
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend technologies such as Vue or React, WebSockets, operator interfaces, and live dashboards.
- Experience deploying and operating distributed service architectures with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and inter-process communication in low-latency environments.
- Experience integrating software with PLCs or similar real-time controllers and understanding deterministic control boundaries.
- Familiarity with test bench infrastructure, instrumentation systems, sensor networks, command/response workflows, and procedural automation.
- Strong understanding of safety-critical software design, including deterministic execution, fail-safe defaults, configuration validation, and safe deployment practices.
- Strong product ownership, analytical thinking, technical judgment, attention to detail, and accountability for system readiness.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, propulsion testing, environmental test systems, or other safety-critical domains is preferred.
- Familiarity with Beckhoff TwinCAT or IEC 61131-3 programming is preferred.
- Knowledge of data-acquisition hardware and software ecosystems such as Beckhoff, Siemens, or Measurement Computing is preferred.
- Experience with serial, CAN, or Ethernet-based industrial protocols and device communication is preferred.
