Responsibilities
- Design and build core infrastructure connecting services across Canva’s backend engineering organization.
- Lead a major migration of backend service communication in partnership with engineering teams and leaders.
- Expand platform support for additional programming languages and frameworks.
- Own the reliability, performance, and correctness of critical-path systems used across the engineering organization.
- Drive technical direction across teams that do not report to the role.
- Mentor engineers and help raise the team’s technical bar.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating infrastructure depended on by other engineering teams, ideally in API gateway, RPC, or service mesh environments.
- Experience owning reliable and correct systems at high traffic and large scale.
- Ability to drive technical direction across multiple teams and communicate clearly with engineers and platform consumers.
- Years of experience owning large-scale, high-transaction commercial production systems.
- Experience working in more than one programming language is preferred.
