Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the QAD Redzone API backend in Scala.
- Develop and maintain the MCP server supporting AI integrations and internal tooling.
- Improve OpenSearch usage within the backend application.
- Complete committed sprint delivery work and contribute ideas for continuous system improvement.
- Provide backend subject matter expertise during incidents to resolve customer issues quickly.
- Design and maintain versioned API contracts, including generating Tapir endpoints and models from OpenAPI specifications.
- Publish and consume Avro-formatted Kafka messages and implement transactional PostgreSQL database access.
- Write observable, testable, and maintainable code and refactor large legacy codebases.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience as a Backend Engineer.
- 5+ years of professional Scala experience and experience with Java.
- Experience with API-first design using OpenAPI Specification, Tapir, versioned API contracts, and Chimney.
- Experience with asynchronous programming using Cats Effect.
- Experience with Avro, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Slick or Doobie, and database migration patterns such as expand and contract.
- Experience with Specs2, ScalaMock, modularized programming, trunk-based development, and large legacy codebases.
- Experience with LaunchDarkly feature flagging, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, and Docker.
