Responsibilities
- Own GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through implementation, rollout, iteration, and measuring usage and feedback.
- Build interactive TypeScript terminal experiences with thoughtful command and flag design, clear output, scripting-friendly behavior, and backward compatibility.
- Drive CLI reliability, observability, performance, and technical-debt improvements using reliability and performance metrics.
- Make architectural decisions and align technical direction with Product, Design, Developer Clients, and AI Clients teams.
- Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through code reviews and mentorship.
- Contribute to the JetBrains Kotlin plugin and VS Code TypeScript extension when shared features or cross-platform consistency require it.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and interest in developer tooling and command-line interface design.
- Experience building or maintaining command-line or other developer-facing tools, including command and flag design, terminal interfaces, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior, and backward compatibility.
- Experience owning technical problems end to end, making architectural trade-offs, and guiding engineers through reviews and mentorship.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills and comfort working remotely in a largely asynchronous environment.
- IDE extension development experience with JetBrains plugins in Kotlin or VS Code extensions, and knowledge of the Language Server Protocol, language servers, or editor integrations, are helpful but not required.
