Base Salary

$198k - $273k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy and architectural direction for the Directory domain across backend and frontend services.
  • Guide the Ruby-to-Go migration and oversee the Change Data Capture pipeline syncing Go services with the legacy Ruby monolith.
  • Design and evolve performant, well-modeled GraphQL APIs within a federated gateway architecture.
  • Champion Kafka-based event streaming and ensure Directory events are reliable, observable, and consumable by other teams.
  • Establish observability, automated unit/integration/end-to-end testing, and reliable containerized deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Product leadership, and adjacent domain teams on shared technical direction.
  • Support maintenance of existing Ruby on Rails and NestJS services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience architecting, scaling, and maintaining complex distributed backend systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Go and experience with domain-driven service boundaries; experience with accounts, organizations, users, or permissions is a plus.
  • Production experience with CQRS and/or Event Sourcing patterns is preferred.
  • Hands-on GraphQL experience, including schema design and federated gateway architectures.
  • Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming systems and familiarity with Change Data Capture patterns.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, modern ORM patterns, and strong data consistency requirements.
  • Solid frontend experience with TypeScript and React 18+ and familiarity with data-fetching and routing patterns in single-page applications.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of influencing technical direction across teams and stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to work on federal government projects requiring FedRAMP authorization.
