Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded system software for new and existing medical-device products.
- Ensure software designs comply with company policies and medical-product design and maintenance requirements.
- Write and maintain design documentation and testing requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, software QA, software, and hardware teams.
- Integrate, debug, and test systems and participate in product design reviews.
- Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing internal and external development teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or a master’s degree in an appropriate field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems and embedded microcontrollers.
- Experience with processors such as ARM, TI, and MSP or similar microcontrollers.
- Knowledge of software design, operating-system concepts, threading, mutual exclusion, deadlocks, and interrupt services.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, communicate effectively, and design, implement, and maintain sections of a product design.
- Preferred qualifications include medical-device experience, RTOS and real-time systems knowledge, wireless protocols, Bluetooth Low Energy, I2C, SPI, Flash, EEPROM, USB, and familiarity with electrical schematics.
