
Principal Engineer, Foundational Services (Remote, United Kingdom)
TicketmasterResponsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and provide subject matter expertise for foundational services including Netscaler load balancing, Infoblox IPAM, DNS, HashiCorp Vault, PKI certificate management, Fastly, and Apigee.
- Design scalable architectures, integrations, proof-of-concepts, diagrams, and documentation for infrastructure services.
- Implement project work, write code and automation, debug issues, deploy fixes, and support operational tickets from internal customers.
- Improve stability, capacity, performance, monitoring, alerting, automation, tooling, and service operability.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions and maintain infrastructure build, automation, and test code in version control.
- Support PCI and security compliance requirements, including upgrades and defect management.
- Respond to, recover from, and help prevent future failures and outages in a high-volume 24x7 production environment.
- Mentor and coach junior team members and collaborate with Networking, Data Center Operations, Security, and other teams.
- Participate in planning sessions, roadmap discussions, architecture reviews, Jira-based project work, on-call, and potentially after-hours support.
Requirements
- Principal-level hands-on experience with most of the team’s foundational services, including Netscaler, HashiCorp Vault, DNS, certificate management and PKI, egress proxies, Fastly, and Apigee.
- Experience with GitLab, CI/CD tooling, monitoring and alerting, DevOps and SRE practices, and infrastructure automation.
- Understanding of PCI compliance, security protocols, security best practices, and cloud and on-premises data center environments.
- Software development experience using languages such as Python, Java, or Go, along with software design patterns, code reviews, and Git-based version control.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working as a key contributor on a fully remote team.
- Ability to handle strategic, complex, and high-risk technical work; exercise independent judgment; troubleshoot complex issues; and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, autonomy, proactive problem-solving, and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
