Base Salary
$188k - $246k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship production backend services in Go and/or Rust.
- Build high-throughput telemetry ingestion pipelines using gNMI, NETCONF, and SNMP across large device fleets.
- Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs for internal consumers and external integrations.
- Implement and optimize time-series storage, data partitioning, archival, and event-streaming pipelines using Kafka or Kinesis.
- Own service reliability through on-call participation, incident response, post-mortems, observability, and systemic improvements.
- Deploy containerized services on Kubernetes and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Translate platform architecture decisions into tested production implementations with the Principal Architect.
- Lead code reviews, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineers across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping production services at scale.
- Hands-on production proficiency in Go and/or Rust.
- Experience with distributed data systems, event streaming, time-series databases, and high-throughput ingestion pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of distributed-systems concepts including consistency models, failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, and processing guarantees.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with structured logging, Prometheus or Grafana, OpenTelemetry, metrics, and distributed tracing.
- Ability to write SQL and work with relational and time-series data models, schema design, and query optimization.
- Experience with code review, CI/CD, test-driven or test-informed development, on-call, and operational ownership.
- Demonstrated technical decision-making, cross-team influence, and technical leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include network telemetry protocols or network management experience, graph databases, YANG, multi-tenant SaaS, regulated or security-conscious environments, and open-source infrastructure, observability, or networking contributions.
