Base Salary
$216k - $283k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship production backend services in Go and/or Rust.
- Build high-throughput telemetry ingestion pipelines using gNMI, NETCONF, and SNMP across large device fleets.
- Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs for internal consumers and external integrations.
- Implement time-series storage and event-streaming pipelines with appropriate performance, retention, partitioning, archival, and delivery semantics.
- Own service reliability through on-call participation, incident response, observability, SLOs, and systemic improvements.
- Deploy containerized services on Kubernetes and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Partner with the Principal Architect on platform architecture and tested production implementations.
- Define engineering standards and mentor Staff and Senior engineers while serving as a cross-organizational distributed-systems resource.
Requirements
- 12+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping production services at scale.
- Hands-on production proficiency in Go and/or Rust.
- Experience with distributed data systems, event streaming, time-series databases, and high-throughput ingestion pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of consistency models, failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, and exactly-once versus at-least-once processing.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with structured logging, Prometheus or Grafana, OpenTelemetry, metrics, and distributed tracing.
- Ability to write SQL and work with relational and time-series data models, schema design, and query optimization.
- Experience defining and promoting TDD, code review, CI/CD, and on-call practices across multiple teams or organizations.
- Established record of setting organization-level technical direction for distributed systems and infrastructure.
- Preferred qualifications include network telemetry or network-management experience, graph databases such as Neo4j or Amazon Neptune, YANG data modeling, multi-tenant SaaS, open-source infrastructure or observability contributions, technical writing, and experience with FedRAMP, NIST, or comparable regulated environments.
