Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Evolve the modular monolith toward a cleaner hexagonal architecture and improve domain separation.
  • Implement and secure OAuth 2.0/OIDC identity and access-management flows and APIs.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service interfaces.
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and manage Flyway migrations.
  • Implement event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka.
  • Contribute to HSM-backed key management, data encryption, personal-data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop automated tests with JUnit 5 and Testcontainers.
  • Improve observability and operational readiness through structured logging, metrics, and tracing with OpenTelemetry.
  • Collaborate with architects, SREs, security engineers, and QA engineers, and participate in reviews, architecture discussions, and documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional backend software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience implementing OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or similar authentication and authorization solutions.
  • Experience designing modular, maintainable backend systems and applying modern software architecture principles.
  • Experience with JUnit, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development workflows.
  • Experience in regulated, security-critical, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Advantageous experience with Apache Kafka, Avro, Schema Registry, Flyway, Testcontainers, Spring Security, OpenAPI/Swagger, Micrometer, OpenTelemetry, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Advantageous experience with HSMs, applied cryptography, secure software development, digital identity, healthcare, or public-sector platforms.
  • Familiarity with hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and ArchUnit is advantageous.
  • German language skills are a strong advantage.
