Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain highly available infrastructure using self-managed Kubernetes on Azure.
- Manage distributed architectures, stateful sets, database configurations, circuit breakers, and Istio traffic shifting.
- Define error budgets, conduct chaos engineering, implement proactive scaling, and lead P0/P1 incident response through root cause analysis and mitigation.
- Build and manage compliance-aligned CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform.
- Enforce quality and security gates with SonarQube and Dependency-Track.
- Implement RBAC, mTLS, Azure Key Vault secret management, network segmentation, secure SDLC practices, and audit trails.
- Operate Istio service mesh, DNS, observability, distributed tracing, JVM debugging, and infrastructure troubleshooting tools.
- Conduct architecture and secure code reviews, establish technical standards, mentor system engineers, and advise technical and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Expert-level production experience with self-managed Kubernetes, Azure services, advanced Linux systems administration, and network routing and troubleshooting.
- Expert configuration and operation of Istio Service Mesh, including traffic management, mTLS, and fault injection.
- Deep proficiency with DNS management, including A, CNAME, SRV, SPF, and DKIM records.
- Strong ability to read, modify, and optimize Java and Spring Boot microservices, including JVM memory tuning, heap sizing, and garbage collection analysis in containers.
- Deep practical knowledge of PKI, certificate lifecycles, revocation, and distributed security enforcement.
- Expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki/ELK, distributed tracing, JVM heap and thread dumps, kubectl, and Envoy logs.
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English and the ability to explain complex technical issues to engineers, auditors, and executives.
