Base Salary
$157k - $266k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop control and safety algorithms for new da Vinci surgical instruments and accessories.
- Analyze, characterize, and optimize mechanism behavior, performance, and safety with clinical development and mechanical design teams.
- Modify, tune, implement, and maintain software algorithms and feature sets controlling robotic mechanisms.
- Perform risk analysis and document risks, requirements, and test protocols for regulatory approval requests.
- Integrate new accessories with the robot and address issues spanning software, hardware, mechanisms, manufacturing, and other technical disciplines.
- Develop automated manufacturing fixtures and define test specifications for instrument calibration, testing, assembly, and mechanical performance.
Requirements
- PhD in a robotics-related field plus at least 3 years of robotics-related experience, or a master’s degree in a robotics-related field plus at least 6 years of robotics-related experience.
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical phenomena and ability to perform rigorous detailed analysis.
- C/C++ and Matlab programming skills, along with hardware, software, and mechanism integration experience.
- Knowledge of classical and modern servo control systems and robot kinematics.
- Knowledge of Python is preferred.
- Knowledge of statistical methods, electrical and mechanical design principles, and CAD tools is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently through challenging technical problems.
