Responsibilities
- Define test strategies for autonomous driving software and related vehicle functions.
- Analyze system requirements and select appropriate verification and validation methods.
- Determine whether requirements and scenarios should be tested through simulation, closed-course, test-track, or public-road testing.
- Lead technical planning for verification activities, including scope, objectives, coverage, and pass/fail criteria.
- Lead technical discussions with test execution, software development, systems engineering, and tool development teams.
- Help prioritize testing based on risk, safety impact, system complexity, and development phase.
- Provide technical guidance to verification engineers and test teams.
- Continuously improve system-level testing methods and best practices.
Requirements
- At least five years of practical AD/ADAS experience in system verification and validation, performance evaluation, or quality engineering.
- Experience developing requirement-based test strategies and selecting suitable testing methods and environments.
- Deep understanding of system-level behavior, interfaces, performance metrics, and end-to-end software behavior.
- Understanding of simulation-based testing and real-vehicle testing.
- Experience analyzing logs, metrics, traces, and test results to identify defects, regressions, and requirements or test-coverage gaps.
- Experience leading testing activities collaboratively without requiring direct personnel management or personally executing tests.
- Practical experience with automated testing, regression testing, and continuous-integration environments using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Basic knowledge of C++ and Python.
- Business-level Japanese and English proficiency.
- Preferred: understanding of automotive software development and safety-related processes such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, AUTOSAR, MISRA, and SOTIF.
- Preferred: knowledge or experience with requirements-management tools such as JAMA.
- Preferred: experience technically leading test architecture, test strategy, or quality-improvement initiatives as an individual contributor.
- Preferred: knowledge or experience evaluating machine-learning models, including performance metrics, dataset quality, edge-case analysis, regression evaluation, and model behavior in safety-critical systems.
