Base Salary
$190k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Influence architectural decisions and oversee implementation of complex technical solutions.
- Own large-scale, multi-team technical initiatives and make high-impact technical decisions with minimal oversight.
- Design and develop scalable, maintainable, high-availability software systems.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams on technical decisions.
- Mentor engineers and establish technical standards and best practices.
- Design and operate distributed systems, integrations, APIs, and relational database solutions.
- Champion quality assurance practices and deliver robust, high-performance software.
- Use AI tools for coding, testing, debugging, and code review while validating generated code.
Requirements
- 12+ years of Java software development experience, particularly for product applications.
- 5+ years designing and operating highly scalable systems.
- Experience solving complex system-design challenges at scale, identifying bottlenecks, quantifying throughput and latency improvements, and articulating personal contributions.
- Hands-on production experience with distributed-systems patterns including Saga, CQRS, outbox, circuit breaker, bulkhead, event sourcing, and idempotency keys.
- Expertise in API design and RESTful services using frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, or Jersey.
- Experience integrating APIs, webhooks, and third-party platforms through extensible integration architectures.
- Proficiency in relational database design, data modeling, normalization, denormalization, indexing, partitioning, and querying large tables.
- Experience debugging database performance, data integrity, and migration issues and evaluating relational versus non-relational stores.
- Strong command of object-oriented programming principles and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of quality testing practices and a record of delivering high-quality software.
- Practical use of AI tools across coding, testing, debugging, and code review, including validation of AI-generated code.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
