Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deliver reliable, efficient, high-performance software for large-scale enterprise and hybrid cloud storage systems.
- Own medium-to-large feature areas from problem definition and design through implementation, validation, performance analysis, rollout, and production support.
- Develop deep expertise in NDSF internals and build robust solutions for customer and product requirements.
- Work on performance, scale-out behavior, availability, resiliency, and failure handling in a distributed storage architecture.
- Debug complex production and test issues across distributed components using data, logs, metrics, and systems reasoning.
- Collaborate with development, test, documentation, support, product management, and customer-facing teams.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging guidance, and technical communication.
Requirements
- Strong operating systems, systems programming, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining enterprise-quality software, preferably in C++ or another low-level systems language.
- Proven ability to own non-trivial features or components in a production software system.
- Strong debugging skills involving concurrency, performance, memory, correctness, and failure scenarios.
- Ability to reason from first principles, decompose ambiguous problems, and communicate design decisions clearly.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 5–8 years of relevant systems software experience.
- Preferred experience with distributed storage systems, filesystems, databases, consensus, replication, erasure coding, snapshots, caching, or data reduction technologies.
- Preferred experience with performance analysis, profiling, benchmarking, scale testing, or production incident debugging.
- Familiarity with Linux internals, networking, concurrency primitives, memory management, or low-level I/O paths.
- Experience working with large C++ codebases and writing maintainable, testable, production-grade code.
