Responsibilities
- Develop object detection, classification, and multi-target tracking algorithms across diverse sensor modalities.
- Build sensor fusion frameworks using radar, EO/IR cameras, IMUs, and other mission sensors.
- Develop state estimation, localization, and pose estimation capabilities for autonomous aircraft.
- Interpret sensor Interface Control Documents and aircraft hardware integration specifications.
- Optimize perception pipelines for accuracy, robustness, and real-time performance.
- Integrate perception outputs with autonomy, planning, behaviors, and decision-making systems.
- Validate perception algorithms using synthetic data, simulation environments, field testing, and operational settings.
- Collaborate with hardware and sensor teams to integrate algorithms with onboard compute platforms.
- Advance real-time airborne sensing capabilities for GPS-denied and contested environments.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 9 years with a master’s degree, or 7 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience implementing Kalman filters, multi-target tracking, or deep learning-based detection models.
- Experience fusing radar, EO/IR, and other sensor data using probabilistic or rule-based approaches.
- Familiarity with SLAM, visual-inertial odometry, or sensor-fused localization in real-time applications.
- Ability to interpret Interface Control Documents and hardware integration specifications.
- Proficiency with version control, debugging, and test-driven development in cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with airborne sensing integration or algorithm development.
- Preferred experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow for vision-based detection or classification.
- Preferred experience deploying perception software on SWaP-constrained platforms and validating systems during flight tests or operational events.
- Understanding of sensing challenges in denied or degraded conditions and exposure to air, maritime, or ground platforms.
