Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve reliable and scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot across multiple product and platform areas.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives and drive projects from conception through production with measurable business impact.
- Develop and maintain REST and gRPC APIs, event-driven flows, and services using PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Flyway, and shared platform libraries.
- Improve architecture, observability, performance, security, testing, developer experience, and production operations in a cloud-native Kubernetes environment.
- Collaborate with product managers and backend, web, and mobile teams on customer-facing solutions.
- Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Use AI-assisted tooling thoughtfully and help establish sensible engineering practices around it.
Requirements
- Deep experience building backend services with modern Java and Spring Boot and operating at Staff level across architecture, implementation, and cross-team technical leadership.
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures, including reliability, scalability, idempotency, and maintainability design.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Flyway, Redis, and Kafka, including selecting appropriate persistence and messaging patterns.
- Comfort owning production services and improving them through observability, metrics, alerting, CI/CD, and Kubernetes-based operations.
- Ability to use AI-assisted tools in reviewable, reliable, and useful ways during day-to-day engineering work.
- Collaborative and product-minded approach, with willingness to work across the stack when needed.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, micro-frontends, and end-to-end feature delivery is a strong plus.
