Responsibilities
- Design and implement new underwriting-platform features for partnered merchants and users across Affirm Card, e-commerce sites, and the Affirm app.
- Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates for timely delivery.
- Partner with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support service availability, keep-the-lights-on work, and on-call efforts.
- Participate in team growth activities, including interviewing, code reviews, and peer support.
Requirements
- Require 1.5 or more years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to translate business problems into solutions spanning multiple software components and write clear, tested, extensible code.
- Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
