Base Salary
$360k - $570k/yr
Responsibilities
- Co-develop the scientific direction with the VP of AI for Cell Biology.
- Own the integration of cell-biology research with Lila's central autonomous-science platform.
- Lead the foundation-model and integration architecture for cell-biology data.
- Build systems for planning, executing, and reasoning over scientific experiments.
- Design and steward the benchmarks and evaluation methodology for research programs.
- Translate complex biological questions into well-defined ML problems.
- Set technical standards for scientific excellence and represent Lila externally.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Track record of impactful research with publications in premier venues.
- Deep expertise in large-scale generative or representation-learning model architectures.
- Experience with agentic, active-learning, or closed-loop systems.
- Fluency in multiple cell-biology data modalities.
- Ability to co-develop and drive research agendas in partnership with senior peers.
- Strong collaboration skills with experimental scientists and computational biologists.
- Expertise in modern ML frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
