Base Salary
$195k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technical direction, architecture, standards, and best practices for mobile features.
- Design and deliver the team’s most complex, high-scope technical projects.
- Build and own critical features in the React Native mobile application.
- Improve developer tooling, build pipelines, development workflows, and CI/CD processes.
- Define standards for component architecture, testing, accessibility, performance, and mobile deployment.
- Mentor engineers at all levels and raise engineering quality across the organization.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product leadership, and Staff/Principal engineers on technical strategy.
- Ensure effective integration between the mobile app and Go and Rails backend services, including API contracts and data flows.
- Participate in on-call rotation, improve systemic reliability, and lead response to critical production incidents.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of professional software engineering experience with deep production React Native experience at scale.
- Proven experience owning complex technical initiatives and driving them to successful outcomes across a team.
- Experience with the full mobile development lifecycle, including architecture, build systems, deployment pipelines, and post-release monitoring.
- Experience building mobile applications backed by large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems serving millions of users.
- Strong technical leadership, mentorship, standards-setting, autonomy, and communication skills.
- Mastery-level TypeScript proficiency and deep React Native expertise, including performance, native modules, complex animations, and cross-platform consistency.
- Expertise with Expo, its ecosystem, monorepo tooling, and Yarn workspaces.
- Experience with mobile testing strategies at scale, including Jest and Maestro for end-to-end testing.
- Proficiency with Expo/EAS workflows, automated builds, over-the-air updates, staged rollouts, and app store pipelines.
- Understanding of backend API patterns and the ability to influence API design across Go and Rails services.
- Experience in fully remote engineering organizations and comfort making high-stakes decisions with incomplete information.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools across coding, planning, scoping, and code review is a preferred qualification.
- A vision for using AI tooling and agentic coding practices to improve team productivity is a preferred qualification.
- Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship or transfer is unavailable.
