Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and coordinate the Treeline engineering team while remaining approximately 60% hands-on.
- Own and shape the architecture and technical roadmap for the underlying services.
- Architect, build, and extend end-to-end features handling large volumes of geospatial data across browser, mobile, and backend systems.
- Design and build performant API endpoints and backend services used by partners and customers.
- Coordinate with product managers, UX/UI designers, data, DevOps, machine learning, and geospatial engineering functions in cross-functional squads.
- Shape and influence team processes and broader ways of working.
Requirements
- First experience as a tech lead with a team-first approach to technical leadership.
- Strong backend experience with NestJS, Express, or Node.js.
- High-level TypeScript skills and production experience with React, or comparable component-model experience with Vue or Preact.
- Familiarity with mobile development, especially React Native.
- Experience working in a codebase with CI/CD and code review, including navigating systems built by others.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding in day-to-day work.
- Knowledge of spec-driven or test-driven development is a plus.
- Web-based geospatial or GIS experience is a plus.
- An eye for design and UX and the ability to make small design decisions independently is a plus.
