Base Salary
$215k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D and implementation of core hypervisor components using technologies such as KVM, QEMU, and Rust-based solutions.
- Develop hardware pass-through and abstraction techniques using SR-IOV, VFIO, and mdev for NVIDIA GPUs and BlueField DPUs.
- Solve live migration for AI workloads with 80GB+ VRAM and optimize PCIe peer-to-peer communication between virtualized accelerators.
- Profile CPU, memory-management, and guest operating system behavior to reduce virtualization overhead, jitter, and throughput bottlenecks.
- Contribute to and maintain upstream open-source virtualization projects and Linux kernel communities.
- Design security boundaries and multi-tenant isolation for high-performance AI cloud infrastructure.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives spanning hardware engineering and cloud control planes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in hypervisor internals, kernel development, or low-level systems programming.
- Expert knowledge of CPU virtualization, including Intel VT-x and AMD-V, and memory virtualization, including EPT, NPT, and HugePages.
- Experience integrating specialized AI hardware such as GPUs, InfiniBand/RoCE NICs, and SmartNICs/DPUs.
- Required mastery of C and C++; proficiency in Rust is highly preferred.
- Experience with QEMU, KVM, and Linux kernel debugging tools such as perf, ftrace, and eBPF.
- Deep understanding of VirtIO, vhost-user, and hardware-accelerated I/O paths.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional technical projects involving hardware and cloud control planes.
