Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction of local and remote development environments, including ephemeral environments, image-based provisioning, health checks, and inner-development-loop ergonomics.
- Lead CI pipeline infrastructure and the commit-to-feedback loop, including reliability, diagnostics, flaky-test reduction, and shift-left validation.
- Own the architecture and evolution of pre-production environments, staging stability, service-owner accountability, and parallel validation workflows.
- Drive reliability, resilience, large-scale Git operations, and disaster recovery for monorepo infrastructure.
- Advance AI-powered developer tooling, AI-assisted code review, agentic development workflows, and platforms for parallel AI sessions.
- Design and lead multi-quarter initiatives that improve developer velocity, CI reliability, pre-production health, and local development.
- Define and instrument developer experience metrics and use them to prioritize investment.
- Partner with infrastructure, platform, and product engineering teams to roll out platform changes with minimal disruption.
- Set technical standards for reliability, performance, upgrade cadence, and developer ergonomics.
- Mentor engineers and represent the team in cross-organizational technical discussions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- Deep hands-on experience operating CI/CD systems at scale, including pipeline design, reliability, and performance tuning for large engineering organizations.
- Experience building or operating local or remote development environments or developer platforms, such as ephemeral environments, development containers, or internal PaaS.
- A track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives with measurable impact on developer velocity, CI reliability, pre-production stability, or feedback-loop time.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure, Docker or other containerization technologies, and ECS, Kubernetes, or equivalent orchestration.
- Experience with large monorepos and related Git infrastructure challenges.
- Strong technical leadership, including setting direction, mentoring engineers, and influencing without direct authority.
- Preferred: bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: experience owning developer environment platforms, stabilizing large-scale pre-production environments, using AI-powered developer tooling, defining developer productivity metrics, or operating developer infrastructure at high-growth companies.
