Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and evolve the MCP/ACP ecosystem that exposes company capabilities as standardized tools for AI agents.
- Design schemas, tool definitions, abstraction layers, structured outputs, and validation patterns for reliable agent interactions.
- Implement orchestration workflows supporting tool use, retries, failure handling, state management, fallbacks, and long-running execution.
- Design deterministic, secure, observable, auditable, reversible, and operationally controlled AI-driven execution.
- Establish company-wide standards for AI interaction patterns, schema governance, agent orchestration, permissions, rate controls, and access boundaries.
- Build instrumentation and observability for tracing agent interactions, measuring execution quality, identifying schema friction, and improving orchestration success.
- Partner with API modernization, platform engineering, infrastructure, security, and SRE teams on scalable AI-ready integration patterns.
- Lead technical design reviews and influence architecture decisions across teams building AI-native systems.
- Create reusable patterns, SDKs, reference implementations, documentation, and paved paths that accelerate safe AI adoption.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of software engineering experience, with the broader 8–14 year principal range identified as most aligned.
- Deep experience building and operating distributed backend systems, APIs, orchestration layers, or platform infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of state management, concurrency, reliability, distributed execution, LLM tool interactions, schemas, structured outputs, and orchestration reliability.
- Deep expertise in abstraction design and wrapping legacy or complex systems with clean, scalable, reusable interfaces.
- Experience building workflow orchestration systems with retries, failure states, long-running processes, and multi-step execution logic.
- Demonstrated ability to define technical standards and influence engineering direction across multiple teams through architecture and design reviews.
- Production experience with observability, operational resilience, auditability, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Engineering, Product, Platform, Infrastructure, Security, and SRE teams.
- Preferred experience with MCP, ACP patterns, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI orchestration frameworks.
- Preferred experience with middleware platforms, API gateways, service mesh architectures, distributed control planes, internal developer platforms, SDKs, or shared engineering tooling.
- Preferred experience implementing AI observability, tracing, prompt tracking, model evaluation, orchestration telemetry, policy enforcement, permissioning, or AI governance systems.
- Preferred experience helping engineering organizations adopt technical standards through documentation, mentoring, and reference implementations.
