Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architectural roadmap for core observability ingestion pipelines.
- Design and develop highly concurrent, distributed systems using Java, Kafka, and cloud-native technologies.
- Serve as a principal technical expert, mentor engineers, and establish standards for code quality, testing, and performance.
- Architect multi-cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS while leveraging Azure for cross-cloud compatibility and routing.
- Identify and eliminate systemic bottlenecks through JVM tuning, concurrency management, and efficient data structure design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical strategies.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on large-scale, highly concurrent distributed systems.
- Expert-level Java proficiency, including JVM tuning, garbage collection optimization, concurrency, and multithreading under extreme load.
- Deep expertise in Apache Kafka or AWS MSK, including partition strategies, consumer group rebalancing, and high-throughput tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS compute and data services including EKS and S3, plus architectural knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, resilient microservices design, and system architecture.
- Proven technical leadership experience defining technical vision, mentoring engineers, and leading delivery of mission-critical systems.
- Preferred experience with Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, Azure Event Hubs, AKS, Blob Storage, Terraform, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
- Bonus qualifications include MELT observability expertise, OpenTelemetry standards, high-cardinality time-series systems, and open-source contributions in distributed systems, stream processing, or observability.
