Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.
- Drive architecture decisions with architects and engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, coaching, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
- Deliver features and enhancements meeting business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Improve performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and operational resilience across backend services.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks, propose mitigations, and address architectural and operational challenges.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Expert-level Kotlin proficiency and desirable experience with Java.
- Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.
- Strong proficiency with Quarkus; Spring Framework experience is a plus.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git.
- Knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding, and application security.
- Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of core AWS services and Kubernetes.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.
- Banking, fintech, or highly regulated enterprise experience is a plus.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required.
