Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.
  • Drive architecture decisions with architects and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, coaching, code reviews, and design reviews.
  • Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Deliver features and enhancements meeting business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Improve performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and operational resilience across backend services.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Identify technical risks, propose mitigations, and address architectural and operational challenges.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
  • Expert-level Kotlin proficiency and desirable experience with Java.
  • Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.
  • Strong proficiency with Quarkus; Spring Framework experience is a plus.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding, and application security.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services and Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.
  • Banking, fintech, or highly regulated enterprise experience is a plus.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required.
