Responsibilities

  • Lead moderately complex software engineering initiatives and technical deliverables.
  • Design, code, test, debug, document, upgrade, and deploy technology projects.
  • Design and implement modern data platforms, reusable components, frameworks, and development standards.
  • Develop and tune SQL and optimize large-scale data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, and distributed systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve memory usage, performance, partitioning, queries, scalability, reliability, and throughput.
  • Modernize legacy application landscapes using enterprise-grade frameworks and open-source technologies.
  • Support RAG architectures, vector stores, embedding pipelines, enterprise AI integrations, and LLM-based data engineering automation.
  • Apply data governance and security practices covering privacy, compliance, lineage, and access control.
  • Conduct peer code reviews, improve engineering quality, and contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Lead projects, serve as an escalation point, and provide guidance to less experienced staff while collaborating with technical and functional teams.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience or equivalent experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Spark, Iceberg, Hive, and Dremio or comparable virtualization, federation, or semantic-layer tools.
  • Experience with a major cloud platform, including Azure or GCP.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Ab Initio, Informatica, or DataStage; Ab Initio is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or Teradata databases.
  • Experience with Autosys or Airflow orchestration; Airflow is preferred.
  • Strong SQL development and tuning skills and experience supporting enterprise-scale data environments.
  • Experience with modern data warehousing, data lakes, lakehouse architectures, distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and open-table formats.
  • Experience with automated code generation, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and reusable engineering frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI, agentic AI, LLM adoption, RAG, vector stores, embedding pipelines, or enterprise AI platforms.
  • Familiarity with data governance and security frameworks, including privacy, compliance, lineage, and access control.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, technical leadership, code review, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment and adopt modern and AI-driven development practices.
