Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and execution of flight software test plans and procedures across satellite bus and payload subsystems.
- Own the flight software verification and validation strategy, including component qualification, integration, regression, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Architect and maintain scalable Python-based test execution frameworks across software-only, bench, and full hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Manage, mentor, and provide technical guidance and performance feedback to a team of test engineers.
- Manage test campaigns by mapping requirements to test cases, tracking execution and artifacts, and producing verification documentation.
- Coordinate testbeds, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop rigs to validate nominal and off-nominal software behavior.
- Own defect tracking, root cause analysis, closure processes, and regression testing during on-orbit operations.
- Support software qualification, certification, mission assurance, safety compliance, and flight readiness reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies for constellation production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 7 years of experience in software testing, verification and validation, or software quality engineering, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience testing embedded or real-time flight or mission-critical software.
- Strong Python proficiency for test development and test execution architecture across multiple environments.
- Experience managing test campaigns with rigorous requirements traceability and formal verification artifacts.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation environments.
- Familiarity with safety-critical or mission-critical software development lifecycle processes.
- Experience with requirements management and test traceability tools such as DOORS, Jama, or JIRA.
- Strong understanding of version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Preferred qualifications include a relevant master’s degree, aerospace flight software testing experience, satellite constellation operations knowledge, flight software architecture experience, satellite communication protocol knowledge, on-orbit anomaly resolution experience, and high-rate production experience.
