Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting components of scalable, elastic distributed systems.
- Define scalability requirements and optimize code and data paths for high-throughput, hyperscale workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant, in-service-upgradable systems using redundancy, replication, failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Establish KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, fault-injection validation, replication, and synchronization mechanisms.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, ensure operational readiness, mentor peers, and collaborate with distributed and cross-functional teams.
- Implement security controls, remediate vulnerabilities, maintain compliance documentation, and develop infrastructure automation for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Perform software scoping, architecture, specification, development, source control, code review, documentation, testing, and milestone delivery.
- Support operational excellence in a cloud DevOps environment.
Requirements
- Proficiency with C/C++ and scripting in Python, Perl, or Bash.
- Hands-on experience developing multithreaded embedded Linux applications or infrastructure, firmware, embedded systems, and Linux kernel or driver software.
- Experience with network or storage stacks and protocols such as P4, DOCA, TCP/IP, NVMe, PCIe, or DPDK.
- Knowledge of Intel, AMD, or ARM computer architectures and experience with hardware or system bring-up.
- Proficiency with Linux and virtualization technologies such as SR-IOV, VirtIO, or vDPA.
- Eight years of software development experience, or qualifying bachelor's degree with four years, master's degree with two years, or a doctorate in a related field.
- At least two years of professional experience with cloud platforms, three years of system-level testing and automation, and two years delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of distributed systems, software engineering, computer science programming, web development, APIs, algorithms, operating systems, source control, vulnerability mitigation, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work with remote lab equipment and communicate, troubleshoot, prioritize, self-manage, and collaborate effectively.
