Base Salary
$200k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build software infrastructure for testing components, subsystems, and complete integrated power generation systems.
- Architect and implement hardware-in-the-loop and simulation environments for realistic operating conditions and failure scenarios.
- Develop automated test execution, operator interfaces, data acquisition, visualization, storage, and analysis software.
- Design and integrate electrical and controls infrastructure including DAQs, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
- Partner with firmware, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers to develop testing capabilities.
- Build one-off laboratory test systems and evolve successful concepts into scalable engineering infrastructure.
- Establish production-quality software architecture and engineering patterns for future test systems.
- Own the technical foundation of the testing ecosystem and help interview and onboard future engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Track record building software for hardware systems, including automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop, industrial controls, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other complex electromechanical products.
- Strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python; experience with C, C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages is preferred.
- Experience interfacing software with physical hardware, instrumentation, embedded systems, or industrial equipment.
- Technical fluency to work credibly with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems engineers.
- Hands-on laboratory experience wiring sensors, debugging electrical systems, integrating instrumentation, and bringing up test hardware.
- Preferred experience with hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop environments, industrial automation platforms, simulation or emulation software, and data acquisition or telemetry systems.
- Preferred familiarity with EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, National Instruments, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar systems.
- Background in aerospace, robotics, automotive, energy, defense, or other fast-paced hardware industries is preferred.
- Ability to work onsite in Seattle and travel to deployment sites as required.
