Base Salary
$140k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services and APIs.
- Own backend features and projects end-to-end from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and improvement.
- Build and operate distributed systems, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and asynchronous data flows.
- Design APIs and services integrating with internal and external systems, including GraphQL APIs.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production services, investigating root causes of complex technical issues.
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, Product, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver complete solutions.
- Proactively improve system reliability, performance, scalability, observability, maintainability, and engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- 6–7 years of professional experience in backend software engineering and building production systems.
- Strong experience with Node.js or a similar backend technology.
- Deep understanding of backend development, APIs, services, databases, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience building, debugging, and troubleshooting production applications.
- Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies, particularly Kafka.
- Experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and services; GCP experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, observability, and system design.
- Demonstrated ability to own complex projects from design through production and investigate technical issues independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional teams and communicate technical decisions.
- Preferred experience with NestJS, GCP cloud-native services, MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, containerized applications, CI/CD and production deployment pipelines, monitoring and observability tools, and high-scale or distributed systems.
- Experience with Angular, other frontend technologies, or full-stack development is a plus.
