Responsibilities
- Set technology strategy, long-term vision, and roadmap for ONTAP and next-generation AI infrastructure.
- Architect and ship highly scalable AI inferencing platforms serving millions of requests with stringent latency, throughput, and reliability requirements.
- Partner with Product Management and engineering to define and deliver next-generation products.
- Influence executive management and engineering teams and act as a technical force multiplier across NetApp.
- Mentor senior and principal engineers and establish the technical bar for senior and principal technical roles.
- Evangelize owned technologies and products internally and externally and develop recognized industry authority.
Requirements
- Globally recognized expertise in scalable distributed storage, databases, and control- and data-plane architectures for Gen AI and AI-as-a-Service workloads.
- Experience building resilient, scalable enterprise products and large-scale compute-intensive stateful applications.
- Ownership of product and system architecture for multiple significant projects, with expertise in coding, design, architecture, subsystems, and technology trends.
- Deep hands-on experience with TensorRT, vLLM, ONNX Runtime, Triton, model optimization, and production RAG workflows for LLM and computer-vision models.
- 15+ years architecting fault-tolerant, low-latency distributed systems, including consensus protocols, distributed state management, data consistency, and AI-optimized filesystems and storage engines.
- Experience building AI/ML platforms with model registries, feature stores, inference gateways, multi-tenant serving infrastructure, GPU/TPU orchestration, memory optimization, and heterogeneous compute scheduling.
- Expertise in high-throughput networking stacks, RDMA, DPDK, kernel bypass, and custom protocols for inter-service and accelerator-to-accelerator communication.
- Experience securing multi-tenant ML infrastructure through isolation, encryption, key management, and fine-grained RBAC/ABAC.
- Expertise in Kubernetes scheduling extensions, device plugins, custom controllers, service mesh, and model-serving API gateway patterns.
- Excellent communication skills with executives and senior leadership regarding products, technology trends, and customer issues.
