Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy, roadmaps, standards, and design principles across cloud, data, integration, and application layers.
  • Lead solution design and architecture reviews across multiple product and engineering teams while balancing scalability, modernization, technical debt, delivery commitments, operational risk, and healthcare compliance.
  • Personally deliver reference implementations, complex cross-system integrations, and architecturally critical proofs of concept.
  • Lead architecture and governance for AI/ML capabilities, including agentic AI systems, LLM integrations, clinical decision support, model evaluation, prompt governance, safety guardrails, and auditability.
  • Own data architecture strategy covering data modeling, lakehouse design, governance, population health systems, source-of-truth strategy, and longitudinal patient data infrastructure.
  • Design real-time and near-real-time integration architectures using HL7 FHIR, event-driven patterns, API gateways, and messaging platforms.
  • Set direction for distributed systems foundations, service boundaries, data ownership, consistency models, failure semantics, observability, reliability, and performance.
  • Lead integrations across Athena Health, Salesforce, Conga, the member portal, health plans, health systems, and employer clients.
  • Support payer data ingestion, attribution models, performance reporting, patient experience infrastructure, claims data, eligibility feeds, and clinical interoperability.
  • Enable engineering teams through technical planning, design and code reviews, documentation, office hours, technical demonstrations, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted technology strategist for business, clinical, product, data, security, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in software or enterprise architecture, including at least 5 years in a senior or principal architect role.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic architect and hands-on technical contributor in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated healthcare technology experience involving health plan data, payer/provider integration, or population health platforms.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native data architecture, including Snowflake, data lakehouse patterns, data modeling, and governance.
  • Strong hands-on experience with real-time and event-driven integration architecture, Kafka, event streaming, API-first design, and HL7 FHIR.
  • Production experience leading AI/ML architecture, including LLM-based systems, agentic workflows, and responsible AI frameworks.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems at scale and leading associated technical execution and organizational change.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; cloud-native architecture; containers and Kubernetes such as EKS, AKS, or GKE; infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform; CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions; and production observability tooling.
  • Strong production proficiency in at least one of .NET, Python, or TypeScript, with working fluency across the others.
  • Strong background in healthcare security, compliance, and regulatory architecture, including HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred experience includes employer-sponsored or value-based care, Athena Health EHR, Salesforce Clouds, Snowflake Cortex, dbt, health plan channel partnerships, NetSuite, Workday integrations, PE-backed healthcare technology, and executive- or board-level AI strategy communication.
  • Strong systems thinking, communication, collaboration, decision-making, ambiguity management, and cross-functional influence skills.

Benefits

  • Pay range is $190,000-$230,000 per year, with eligibility for an annual incentive.
