Base Salary

$186k - $388k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of technologies and designs for a highly available, fault-tolerant, and performant payments and billing platform.
  • Build and ship platform features using AI coding agents, while delegating tasks, reviewing generated code, and owning production quality.
  • Design and implement shared queuing, event-system, shared-memory, and library layers for reuse across teams.
  • Own key initiatives end to end, influence cross-team architecture and roadmaps, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and Operations.
  • Drive platform capabilities for high availability, scalability, automation, CI/CD, and multi-cloud deployment.
  • Review technical specifications, participate in code and design reviews, and evangelize engineering best practices and platform innovation.
  • Remain hands-on and code approximately 80% of the time.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and operating large-scale services in subscription, payment, order, or billing domains.
  • Expertise with subscription and payment flows including tax, purchase, renewal, dunning, cancellation, repurchase, and invoicing.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable AI-assisted and agentic coding tools in production workflows.
  • Experience building streaming, API, notification, and batch workloads.
  • Strong architectural design experience and a track record of building highly available and scalable subscription platforms.
  • Strong expertise with cloud systems, with AWS or GCP required.
  • Experience designing and leading complex transactional systems across organizational teams.
  • Strong automation experience, including building and adopting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Multi-cloud experience and the ability to guide application design, deployment, and scaling across multiple cloud environments are a plus.
