Responsibilities
- Lead the full AI/ML lifecycle from ideation through production for healthcare applications.
- Design, develop, integrate, standardize, verify, validate, and deploy AI software components and digital health solutions.
- Apply deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and large language models to healthcare data, including patient records, medical imaging, and genomic information.
- Define AI roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and provide strategic technical leadership for AI Engineering programs.
- Establish evaluation methodologies, performance metrics, development standards, governance practices, and risk mitigation approaches.
- Design, test, and maintain tools and automated release pipelines for AI software development and deployment.
- Lead clinical, business, and multidisciplinary consultations and translate complex technical findings for non-technical audiences.
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, and quality-system procedures.
- Provide functional leadership for high-risk and novel product reviews and improve governance processes, reviewer tools, and training programs.
- Mentor engineers and support training, technical workshops, knowledge sharing, publications, and presentations.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 7 years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience.
- At least 7 years of experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare or similarly regulated or technology-focused environments.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex projects, enterprise-scale AI or digital health programs, and technical or quantitative teams in regulated environments.
- Expertise in AI/ML techniques, frameworks, data engineering, data science, AI Engineering, and MLOps practices.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure environments, software development tools, and large, complex, heterogeneous datasets.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical workflows, electronic health records, medical terminologies, healthcare regulations, industry standards, and common data models.
- Experience mentoring and training less-experienced team members and communicating complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Preferred: Ph.D. or other doctorate, particularly in AI, computer science, engineering, biomedical informatics, statistics, or a related field.
- Preferred: proficiency with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras, plus deep learning, natural language processing, and Generative AI expertise.
- Preferred: publications, conference presentations, standards-organization participation, usability and human factors experience, risk management files, and verification/validation strategies for digital health products.
