Base Salary

$115k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
  • Define scalability requirements and optimize code and systems for large-scale data processing and high-throughput workloads.
  • Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
  • Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms.
  • Design correctness, availability, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization solutions.
  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations and root-cause investigations.
  • Implement security controls, remediation plans, encryption, access controls, and cloud compliance documentation.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management plans for patching, updating, and rolling back systems.
  • Coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, mentor team members, recommend process improvements, and participate in hiring interviews.

Requirements

  • Experience leading development and beginning architecture of scalable distributed systems.
  • Ability to design high-throughput, fault-tolerant, durable, and in-service-upgradable systems.
  • Experience with distributed state management, data retrieval and storage platforms, replication, synchronization, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Ability to design performance, load, correctness, and fault-injection testing scenarios.
  • Experience troubleshooting production systems and participating in incident response and root-cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, cloud compliance, and infrastructure automation.
  • Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor others, and collaborate across teams.
