Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, distributed software systems for Amazon Retail Business Services.
- Apply sound architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling practices to new and existing systems.
- Build stable, performant, flexible software while making appropriate resource, dependency, and implementation tradeoffs.
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, peers, and applied scientists on project ideas and business solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, team planning, and ticket and metric reviews.
- Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and software and process enhancements.
- Mentor and train engineers on system construction, operation, security, and broader system context.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of non-internship experience with software design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming in at least one software programming language.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architecture, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and existing systems.
