
Sr Backend Engineer, Billing

Responsibilities
- Design and build systems for plans, pricing, entitlements, and limits and expose them through an API.
- Decompose the billing monolith into correct, testable, independently deployable services.
- Own end-to-end correctness for usage metering, reconciliation, invoices, and customer-visible usage data.
- Operate production systems through SLOs, alerting, on-call support, and root-cause remediation.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional software-engineering experience with significant work on complex backend applications.
- Experience decomposing a monolith.
- A track record working on systems where correctness is non-negotiable, including idempotency, reconciliation, reversible migrations, and safe cutovers.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Rust, or Python.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or an equivalent platform.
- Strong production ownership, including on-call responsibilities.
- Experience with billing, payments, metering systems, usage-based pricing, entitlements, quotas, or multi-tenant limits is a bonus.
