Senior Backend Engineer, ISV (Product Infrastructure)

Responsibilities
- Design and evolve core domain APIs and data models for Polymarket’s consumer product.
- Build gRPC/Connect services, real-time streaming systems, and event and notification infrastructure.
- Deliver features such as personalization, search, and live data feeds with frontend, mobile, and product teams.
- Consolidate fragmented services and APIs into reusable primitives.
- Balance technical-debt cleanup with shipping new product functionality under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data engineering teams across the platform.
Requirements
- Experience designing and evolving backend domain APIs and data models for a consumer-facing product at scale.
- Hands-on experience with gRPC/Connect, real-time streaming, and event or notification infrastructure.
- Experience partnering with frontend, mobile, and product teams to ship end-user features.
- Experience consolidating fragmented services and APIs into cleaner, reusable primitives.
- Pragmatic judgment balancing technical-debt cleanup with new product delivery under tight deadlines.
- Experience at a high-growth consumer product company or marketplace is a plus.
- Experience deploying systems in AWS or GCP cloud environments and using containers is a plus.
