Responsibilities
- Design and evolve high-performance, scalable software architectures and supporting infrastructure.
- Lead the breakdown and delivery of large, complex technical initiatives into achievable milestones.
- Provide technical leadership across system architecture and multiple codebases, languages, and domains.
- Own major projects end-to-end, driving progress, removing blockers, and ensuring outcomes.
- Establish and improve engineering and organisational processes for delivery and collaboration.
- Support engineers through coaching, performance management, and targeted growth plans.
- Promote clear communication, alignment, and effective cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
- Strong experience with multiple languages and codebases, including Haskell, Clojure, OCaml, Scala, Elm, and Erlang.
- Strong system-level technical understanding and experience building performant, evolutionary architectures.
- Experience writing high-quality, well-tested code using appropriate unit, property-based, and integration testing strategies.
- Ability to balance pragmatism with software quality and make decisive technical choices.
- Experience inspiring and retaining teams and supporting engineer development.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-alignment skills.
- Collaborative approach with an emphasis on product quality.
- Experience in insurtech, insurance, or related industries is especially valued.
- Experience working in a distributed environment is especially valued.
