Base Salary
$99k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and extend the mission simulation environment used to develop and validate Lodestar’s autonomy stack.
- Develop high-fidelity electro-optical sensor, orbital lighting, illumination, and environment models.
- Build software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test benches for flight software and simulated missions.
- Design distributed simulation services that run mission scenarios at scale across multiple machines and in CI.
- Own simulation tooling, telemetry, and regression frameworks.
- Collaborate with perception, prediction, decision, and missions teams on simulation scope and fidelity.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Software Engineer I: 0–2 years of experience in simulation, robotics, or games, including internships and research placements; C++ and Python proficiency; ROS 2 exposure; multithreading fundamentals; 3D engine or physics and graphics simulation familiarity; Linux and Docker experience.
- Software Engineer II: 2–5 years of industry experience; strong modern C++ and Python; production ROS 2; SIL/HIL experience; Unreal Engine, Unity, Isaac Sim, or Gazebo experience; distributed-service design; and real-time or soft-real-time concurrent programming.
- Software Engineer III: 6+ years of industry experience; end-to-end ownership of a simulation stack or major subsystem; simulation infrastructure architecture; real-time distributed-systems expertise; SIL/HIL pipeline and CI integration experience; mentoring and technical-direction experience.
- Preferred qualifications include orbital mechanics, Basilisk, physics engines, rigid-body dynamics, sensor modeling, GPU rendering or CUDA, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, 42, DDS, Zenoh, gRPC, PTP, NTP, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and distributed-autonomy networking protocols.
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required ITAR authorizations.
