Responsibilities
- Analyze features, workflows, user stories, acceptance criteria, architecture, and technical risks to define test strategy and coverage.
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests across API, integration, system, regression, and user-interface layers.
- Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, performance, reliability, security, upgrade, smoke, and compatibility testing.
- Own quality activities for complex features through refinement, validation, release readiness, and post-release learning.
- Investigate failures, isolate root causes, communicate product risk, and partner with developers to resolve defects.
- Contribute quality estimates, dependencies, risks, and objectives during PI Planning, backlog refinement, iteration planning, system demos, and Inspect and Adapt.
- Improve automation frameworks, test data, environments, CI/CD quality gates, reporting, and traceability.
- Mentor quality engineers and developers in testing practices and promote consistent quality patterns across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 5+ years of professional software quality engineering or software testing experience.
- Strong experience designing test strategies and building maintainable automated tests using programming or scripting languages.
- Experience testing APIs, services, databases, desktop or web applications, and integrations across a modern software stack.
- Working knowledge of source control, defect management, CI/CD, test environments, test data, and software development lifecycle practices.
- Ability to assess risk, diagnose complex failures, communicate quality status, and drive issues to resolution.
- Experience collaborating across Product, Development, Quality Engineering, and Architecture roles in Agile delivery.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, technical writing, and presentation skills in English.
- Preferred experience with manufacturing and supply chain, planning and scheduling, refinery or petrochemical workflows, mathematical modeling, or optimization.
- Preferred experience with C#/.NET, C++, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, SQL, test automation frameworks, performance testing, security testing, cloud technologies, containers, telemetry, or observability.
- Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting at critical development stages is preferred.
- Exposure to SAFe or another scaled Agile framework and experience mentoring engineers or leading quality activities for complex features are preferred.
