Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy agentic AI applications for natural-language interaction with clinical data.
- Build RAG pipelines grounded in biomedical ontologies, clinical trial registries, and curated pathway databases.
- Apply unsupervised, self-supervised, survival modeling, dynamic treatment regime, causal inference, NLP, and deep learning methods to clinical, trial, biobank, and omics data.
- Build pipelines for locked clinical trial databases using SDTM and ADaM for secondary and exploratory research.
- Identify subgroup effects, treatment heterogeneity, responder and non-responder signatures, latent safety signals, disease trajectories, and treatment response kinetics.
- Architect meta-analytic and cross-trial workflows and connect trial-derived findings with large-scale biobank cohorts for validation and enrichment.
- Evaluate and monitor model performance, safety, and reliability in production environments.
- Establish reproducible research data management practices including data versioning, containerized compute, and audit-ready analysis logs.
- Ensure research activities comply with HIPAA, GDPR, IRB, and ethics committee requirements.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and partnerships with relevant Lilly teams.
Requirements
- M.S. in Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field, with 6+ years of relevant research experience; alternatively, a Ph.D. or MD/PhD in a related field with 3+ years of relevant research experience.
- Research experience with clinical trial datasets, including SDTM and ADaM, biobank data, or large-scale population health data.
- Expert proficiency in Python and/or R for statistical modeling and machine learning, plus strong SQL skills.
- Experience with cloud-based research computing environments, high-performance computing, and production AI tools for clinical data analysis.
- Knowledge of generative AI, LLM fine-tuning, foundation model training, clinical data standards, OMOP CDM, HL7 FHIR Genomics, and biomedical ontologies.
- Experience applying survival analysis, causal inference, NLP, deep learning, federated learning, differential privacy, or secure computation to clinical or genomic research.
- Direct experience with major biobank resources such as UK Biobank and All of Us.
- Experience with target trial frameworks, pharmacogenomics, drug response modeling, PK/PD analysis, knowledge graphs, graph ML, ontology-driven reasoning, and multi-omic data analysis.
- Peer-reviewed publications in clinical AI, translational informatics, genomics, or a related area.
