Java Fullstack Software Engineer III - AI/ML
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and operate real-time AI agents in live production environments.
- Develop deterministic rule and workflow agents that support routing, approvals, escalations, retries, and fallbacks.
- Implement workflow orchestration using BPMN, state machines, rules engines, or equivalent frameworks.
- Model and manage process state, including idempotency, replays, timeouts, and Saga-style compensation patterns.
- Integrate AI agents with internal services through APIs, messaging, event streaming, and databases.
- Build scalable Java backend APIs and React-based front-end applications.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and troubleshoot complex engineering problems.
- Use authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, refactoring, troubleshooting, and documentation while validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Participate in code reviews and apply testing, secure coding, operational stability, and continuous integration practices.
- Identify patterns in data and improve coding hygiene, agent performance, and system architecture.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Production experience building, deploying, and operating real-time AI agents; academic or project-only experience does not qualify.
- Production experience with AI agent frameworks, neural cognitive task systems, and AI skillset orchestration in enterprise-scale backend engineering environments.
- Proficiency in Java for scalable, production-grade backend APIs and integrations.
- Hands-on experience building React front-end applications integrated with backend AI and API services.
- Experience implementing and maintaining continuous integration pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating their outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Experience building deterministic policy- or rule-based agents and orchestrating multi-step workflows with state, timers, and exception paths.
- Experience implementing validation, authorization, audit trails, rollback, or compensation controls.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; Kubernetes and Docker; Kafka and event-driven architectures; distributed systems; microservices; and API development best practices.
- AI/ML experience is preferred.
