Base Salary
$122k - $181k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed ML training and inference systems, including data ingestion, feature processing, and model serving infrastructure.
- Develop and optimize ML platform components for training orchestration, gradient communication, and checkpoint management.
- Profile and diagnose performance bottlenecks across data loading, preprocessing, model execution, and serving.
- Write automated tests and build monitoring and alerting for ML systems components.
- Collaborate with ML researchers and product engineers to design reliable, high-throughput systems.
- Own technical designs and evaluate throughput, latency, cost, and maintainability trade-offs.
- Support staged rollouts, feature flagging, A/B testing, on-call rotations, incident investigations, and retrospectives.
- Improve code quality through reviews, documentation, and consolidation of duplicative implementations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience focused on machine learning systems, distributed systems, or high-performance data infrastructure.
- Production-quality programming experience in Python and at least one compiled language such as C++ or Java.
- Experience building ML training or inference pipeline components, including preprocessing, model execution, or serving systems.
- Experience with distributed computing concepts such as data parallelism, model parallelism, or parameter server architectures for ML workloads.
- Experience writing automated tests, building logging and alerting, and participating in production incident response.
- Preferred experience with ML workload optimization, PyTorch or JAX internals, Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, responsible AI practices, GenAI post-training, RLHF, RLVR, parallelism, accuracy evaluation, performance profiling, quantization, and mixed-precision training.
