Base Salary
$170k - $216k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop methodologies and metrics for measuring simulation realism across agent behavior, sensor rendering, environmental effects, and other simulator technologies.
- Design scalable and efficient platforms and pipelines for measuring realism across massive datasets.
- Research and implement systems that guide simulator development priorities.
- Identify system performance or realism gaps and develop data-driven approaches to investigate them.
- Collaborate with engineering and research teams developing and using large-scale machine learning models to improve simulator fidelity.
- Contribute to a high-fidelity simulator used for safety validation and Waymo Driver performance evaluation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of industry software development experience.
- Proficiency in Python or C++, including relevant data-handling and computation libraries such as NumPy or Pandas.
- Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Knowledge of software design principles, coding best practices, testing methodologies, and version control software.
- Experience designing, implementing, and interpreting quantitative analyses or metrics using concepts such as distributions and confidence intervals.
- Demonstrated ability to turn quantitative findings into productionized metrics, automated evaluation tools, or validation-system improvements.
- Experience building software pipelines for data processing, system evaluation, or metric computation in large-scale systems.
- Preferred: expertise in quantitative evaluation methodologies and scalable data-processing or evaluation infrastructure.
- Preferred: experience defining technical strategy and roadmaps in complex technical and product environments.
- Preferred: experience with simulation systems, robotics, or autonomous vehicles.
