Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Samsara’s end-to-end ML platform for multiple product teams.
- Partner with product and applied ML teams to launch ML-powered features.
- Lead throughput and cost estimation for new ML features.
- Collaborate on experiment design and evaluation.
- Evolve shared training and experimentation infrastructure.
- Design and operate scalable online and batch inference systems.
- Define workflows for packaging and deploying models to devices.
- Own the reliability and security of ML systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
- Drive strong developer experience through documentation and best practices.
- Own end-to-end technical delivery for high-priority initiatives.
- Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or related fields.
- Strong experience with distributed computing frameworks like Ray and/or Spark.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containers/Kubernetes.
- Proven experience building or supporting ML platforms used by multiple teams.
- Solid understanding of ML fundamentals including evaluation and experiment design.
